THE GREAT AMERICAN CHILI COOKOFF

WHO HAS THE BEST CHILI IN THAILAND?
We will find out on July 3rd at the American Independence Day Picnic.
Beans are allowed this year…

Whose Chili, you ask?
Well, it could be your Chili if you enter the Chili Cookoff at the American picnic held this year at KIS International School on Saturday July 3rd.

Having Organized, Judged and Cooked in "CASI" Chili Appreciation Society International events, the I-Day committee is organizing a non-sanction event for the third time in Bangkok.

The goal is to raise money for charity and enjoy chili. This event will be open to anyone who believes they have the best Chili in Bangkok. What makes the event so fun is the people’s choice awards going to the Chili receiving the most votes from the Public.

JUDGING CRITERIA

7 Trophies will be awarded in three categories
Chili will be blind judged on the following five criteria:
  • AROMA - Chili should smell good.
  • CONSISTENCY - Chili should be a good balance of meat and gravy. The meat should be tender, but not mushy.
  • COLOR - Chili should look good and the color should range from reddish to reddish brown. Shades of "gray, black, pink, or camouflage" are unappealing, as is excess grease.
  • TASTE - Chili should taste good. Judges believe that an excellent tasting chili will always stand out.
  • AFTERTASTE - Chili should leave a pleasant taste after swallowing. A chili pepper "afterbite" is permitted, but the degree of heat is a matter of personal preference.
